Days in the sun

Adam and Roxcie and the kids came to our house, the Friday before Christmas - we had a family get together before they headed north to Edmonton to visit with Roxcie's family.

We spent Christmas day at Katie and Scott's house. Megan was fully into dressing up in her princess outfits and entertaining the crowd. Scott's mum and dad and his grandmother were staying for a few days - which gave us a great opportunity to catch up. It was really nice to see you Carol, Terry and Lena.

Boxing day - the day after Christmas when most people are hanging out, enjoying family visits and being away from work - our day was a little different. We arranged for a taxi to pick us up at 3:30am and deliver us to the airport.
4:00 am is a little early to be at the airport but it got us ahead of the crowd and through security in no time at all. We had an uneventful journey except for a two hour delay in Houston. There had been severe weather all around the area and many flights had been cancelled - two hours sitting around was an easy out for us - could have been much worse.
The weather in Fort Lauderdale is very comfortable - low in the 60's F and highs in the high 70's and a couple of times sneaking into the low 80's - very nice.
Full moon - evening walk along the beach

Ocean breezes
Ocean side "broadwalk"
Late afternoon at the pool

We have the use of a beautiful large swimming pool and Ed has already changed his work out routine to include swimming. Just outside the building is the "broadwalk" - a paved flat promenade along the sea shore -just made for running and no gloves or cold weather gear required - perfect.
Our days, so far, have been very relaxing - walks along the sea shore, stop for coffee, walk a little more, stop for ice cream, repeat, or stop for a beer as a change. This is as busy as it gets - very  nice.
Today - New Years Eve - we will go out to the shore later and watch the fireworks - a late night for us but who is getting us up early tomorrow?

Christmas is almost behind us - what's next?

We are about to enter the next phase of our life together; perhaps with a few mixed feelings but these are far outweighed with a lot of eager anticipation. Christine has been retired from work for only a few days but she is comfortably transitioning into being "unemployed". Ed will continue working for another couple of years on a "semi retired" basis. The plan is to continue with our travels and adventures and also make the most of our additional opportunities to spend time together.
We welcome you to stay in touch by visiting once in a while and your comments will be eagerly anticipated.
