Port of Spain, Trinidad

We have been to Trinidad a couple of times previously and decided a self guided walking tour would suit us. Port of Spain is the main import/export city and is very busy and congested. We were warned to be alert when out and about and not to wander too far out of the center of the city. Apart from the many people and general congestion, we noticed a very lively atmosphere - people were happy and loud music was playing every where. the folks are getting ready for Carnival.

There was lots of Carnival costumes, jewelery, masks and other adornments available in the stores - some were very intricate and expensive too.
There was an obvious pride in their citizenship also - even so there is still very British feel to the city. Look both ways - they drive on the wrong side of the road
Don't drop stuff - big fine coming your way if you get caught
